We had this exact issue - ended up writing a PowerShell script which runs on startup. Checks the last modified date of the home folder and after X amount of days removes it.

This would be very helpful. I have found a few scripts online, but they are all different and I would prefer using a script that I know works.

It was broken but was fixed a while back (would say 1909). It no longer uses that file and uses one of the others that does update

You sure? We've had pcs running out of space with the GPO method applied and have been above 1909 for a long time?

I stumbled onto a post on Spiceworks that said it was fixed, then stopped working then fixed, but stopped working after an update this summer.

 

Think I might do some testing, but I'm a really busy ATM.

Do you have teams installed on these devices?

 

Found it created user folders under C:\ProgramData that do not get cleared on a profile clean.

 

I ended up removing Teams and left them to use the web version.

We have roaming profiles with appdata redirected to their home drives.

 

Not experienced any issues with this from the days of XP up to 10.

 

The biggest roaming profile size I can see is 6.9MB. The smallest is 1.3MB

 

You can omit a lot of the stuff from roaming in user profiles via GPO in order to keep the size small: User Config > Administrative Templates > System > User Profiles > Exclude directories in roaming profile
