Swaleway_Techie Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Hi , I have been having a really odd issue since the start of December that I am starting to go mad over! So we have recently started to dip our toes in MECM to move away from MDT as it is phased out my Microsoft and I have manged to deploy a full Win 11 student image with software on no problems. However when I moved it into the correct OU needed that pushes out other software packages via GPO that we didn't want on MECM, Adobe CC would not install at all. When it failed it would still show on the booting screen saying "installing adobe cc" but it didn't hang for long and didn't actually install. When checking the program files there would be a root adobe folder, with a Creative Cloud folder inside, but then nothing else installed. After hours and hours of testing I found that if I removed the GPO that deployed AB Tutor , adobe CC does install ok. From what I can tell this issue never happened on Win 10. Going to keep testing with a new Win 10 image to try figure it out, but has anyone had a similar issue with CC installs on Win 11 via GPO, or noticed any clashes with ab Tutor with CC? Thanks
DavR Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 I've not had this exact issue, but I've had similar scenarios in the past that have been caused by software dependencies. In our scenario, SCCM client would fail if IPEVO Presenter was installed, because IPEVO mucked around with the versions of MS Visual C++ that were installed. Could it be that something the AB Tutor installs or reconfigures prevents the install of Adobe CC? A good thing to try would be, on a PC with AB Tutor installed, try and manually run the Adobe CC installer. If there's a hard error preventing the install, it might give you an error message you can use to troubleshoot.
DavR Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Also, just looking AB Tutor up - it's a classroom control app. Could it be that AB Tutor is actively preventing the install of unauthorised apps?

Thanks Not related to your Adobe issue but you mentioned that MDT is being phased out? I haven't seen anything about this and we rely on MDT for our deployments. Any links you could point me to for more info on this?

I know where I am we were not able to push out WIN 11 via MDT late last year, so have started to go down the MECM route moving forward, but seems to be conflicting information out there it seems. 2

I only built and perfected my MDT setup last summer, having downgraded from the overblown nightmare that was SCCM. I don't want to go back there! Yeah I much prefer MDT too MECM is a nightmare way to complicated and messy, but seems to be the way Microsoft are going at the moment! There seems to be lots of chat online about MDT working, so might be worth testing some WIN 11 deployments.

CC installs if we take AB tutor out of the OU, so I assume it will work (I will test it), but the problem we have is AB tutor is sat above CC in Group Policy, as AB tutor is installed to all machines and CC only to those in IT Suites. We could I suppose create a new OU with blocked inheritance. but would rather not mess up the structure we have.

Yeah CC Package was built from the admin console and we have the MSI in GPO and we have the latest AB Tutor v 11 No log files are left over no :/ It just leaves the root folder in programme files with nothing in.
