2097 Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Seem to be experiencing some sort of issue with Sharp printers/photocopiers and random documents crashing them . From what i have found, a user sends the documents to the printer then suddenly the printer goes offline, network lights still active but you cannot ping the device . Once you turn it off at the plug and back on it then resumes , until the next time it does it. I have had this issue before with a similar Sharp photocopier when a specific file/headed paper would crash the printer and a power off would be required. Any one had an issue similar to this ? From what i can see our other printers seem fine Samsung/HP/Brother. Thanks 2097
247Dan Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Hi, We had this problem on Sharp devices which was solved with a firmware update. Regards Dan
MatthewL Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 What model machine is this and what driver are you using? When you say crash them if you go to job status and spooling does it show the job rendering?
2097 Posted January 26, 2023 Author Posted January 26, 2023 Thanks for the replys . When i say crash . The printer is still powered , network lights active . You cant ping the printer and when you try to print to it, it gets stuck in the queue. Turning the printer off and on again, resolves it . Unsure if its related, our Meraki core switches updated to the latest software on Monday, im going to issue a rollback to see if thats caused it .

Hi, We are a Sharp and Ricoh dealer, this is a common problem on the generation of devices just gone, i.e 51,61,71 model devices. Let me know if you need help finding the correct Firmware but your supplier should be able to do this for you with a service call, there is a technical bulletin for the issue. Regards Dan
gds64 Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 To be fair, that simply sounds like an unreachable IP address. It's unlikely that the printer has crashed.
MatthewL Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 Two things I have done for 10 years is disable IPv6, WSD and if not used AirPrint (if on it) that does resolve. It would be helpful for the model and weather jobs are rendering but if its only started since Monday its interesting. IPv6 used to cause issues with Dell PC's of all but the the rendering issue was caused by Windows update and a certain driver.
2097 Posted January 30, 2023 Author Posted January 30, 2023 Update - Meraki downgrade solved the issue. I knew it was the only thing that had changed, the department in question made me believe the printer had been doing it since install ! . But we also started having the same issues on Samsung printers so knew it wasnt just a specific printer in the end. Thanks all for the help.
