Hi all,

I'm just wondering if, in your experience, you get a better offer dealing directly with Dell / HP / Lenovo etc. for buying desktop PCs or through a reseller(s) when looking for a quote? How do you normally go about it when you're looking for big quotes like this?

Thanks in advance!

I've found resellers usually offer better pricing and more flexibility on that pricing than the manufacturer's reps. At least in volumes up to ~200 or so desktops. They're usually more responsive too.

If I were regularly buying thousands of units, I might get a better class of account manager from the manufacturer who has access to better discounts, but that's not likely in my current role.

Resellers tend to have access to price/stock lists that we (the public) don't, so usually can get better deals. Depends on the quantities you're after. For desktops I always go to @VeryPC_Colin_M for new (they sell branded and own brand) and @ICTDirect_Dave for refurbished. Great service and support from both.

In addition to the above, long term service is better via resellers. I find vendors like Dell constantly change your account manager, so you don’t build a relationship. Ultimately the service suffers.
