I've got an album of wallpapers that need to be showing on all despktops in the school on a weekly rotation. Is there any way I can get this done without having to use a 3rd party software.

I believe you can create a theme file, export the theme file and then apply the theme file via gpo. The only restriction is that I'm not sure if it's possible to set the 'prevent changing background' option while doing this, I believe it stalls the slideshow.

Years ago i got a rotation of images to be shown when students login. We still use it now and have about 8 to 10 images that cycle through on the desktop whilst the user is logged in.

 

We use something called ThemeSwitcher with a Batch file.

 

Off the top of my head, I cant remember the ins and out of it though.

We change the Lock Screen image every hour. Scheduled tasks on the server where the image is used, replacing the image to the same file name as specified in Group Policy. Works well. Could use this method for wallpaper?

I did a count down to Xmas wallpaper one year. Linked a wallpaper in user policy of group policy in a network share called background.jpg

 

I had also in the network share about 15 (excluding weekend and dates they weren’t in. different wallpapers called background%date%jpg eg background01, background02.jpg etc etc

 

On the server had a daily task script that would copy \\server\share\archive\background%date%.jpg to \\server\Share\background.jpg /Y (to overwrite)

 

It worked well and became adapted to a number of events they wanted to advertise a count down for.
