kennysarmy Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 I'm trying to allow a member of SMT to share a document with the headteacher of another school. Setup is: I've checked our SMT member is in the security group allowed to share externally. I've checked the external headteacher appears in our admin centre as a guest. What am I missing as the sharer is getting this error?
psydii Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 That's the standard message you get when a recipient is from outside your organistion. Unless you have blocked external sharing, it is informational only. The link will be created and should work. 1

Yea - haha - spotted that earlier so have asked him to confirm what happens if he goes ahead and clicks SEND anyway Cheers

localzuk Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 How long ago did they get added to the rule allowing external sharing? I found there can be a significant delay between it being allowed/membership changing, and it actually allowing a user to do it.

Mako Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 So this is what happens when he tries to send! So there is a blockage somewhere... I can't see the attachment linked here, could you re-attach? Or paste the error in. We have more limited sharing than shown in your first post (the Limit by Domain is enabled for us) and, for the most part, it works, so I feel like it will be something daft.

I've tested using another account and was able to share a OneDrive file OK with my personal account which is in the tenancy as a guest - so fundamentally nothing is wrong - but something is broken somewhere. Next step is to get the guy to try sharing a different file and then try sharing with my personal account to narrow down what the issue is. Cheers
Mako Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Sounds a bit daft, but is the user hitting enter after typing the e-mail address in? And/or clicking the grey pop-up that should appear?
kennysarmy Posted January 10, 2023 Author Posted January 10, 2023 Well lo and behold the user tried again at the end of yesterday, claimed they did the exact same operation and it WORKED! Sigh. 1
