robjduk Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 (edited) Morning all, I need a new 48 port PoE+ switch and am horrified to see the HP/Aruba 2530 has gone end of life! Thinking along the Aruba line, what is the logical replacement I should look at? I'm thinking the 2930M/F series but wanted to be sure. Thanks Edited October 18, 2022 by robjduk
Andycat Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I'd see what is actually in stock or available soon first!
robjduk Posted October 18, 2022 Author Posted October 18, 2022 I'd see what is actually in stock or available soon first! Well this is indeed a problem. Just need to get my name down for something but confused to the exact replacement I need to aim at.
Oaktech Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 If you're using anything else by Ubiquiti, I'd be checking out their switching range...
Net-Ctrl Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Hi @robjduk - the suggested replacement for the Aruba 2930 48 PoE switch was the Aruba CX 6000 48G CL4 4SFP Switch. More information on the series can be found here - https://www.arubanetworks.com/products/switches/access/6000-series/ The Aruba 6000 is one of their new(ish) entry class Layer 2 access switch.
fiza Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Apparently Aruba recommend the Aruba CX 6000 48G CL4 4SFP Switch as the replacement for the 2530 48 port POE. https://www.arubanetworks.com/assets/support/EOS_2530-Gigabit-24-48-port-Switches.pdf edit: beaten to it!! 1
supportman Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 (edited) I wouldn't buy HP/Aruba Kit. We just got caught out with the "End Of life" thing as well. Seems they don't support each device for long now. We moved to Unify Switches and couldn't be happier, their 48 port POE switch is silent and fast and fits in slim cabinets. Its amazing tech compared to our old HP, Netgear and Aruba switches. Edited October 18, 2022 by supportman
RedwayNetworks_Michael Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Hi All, The Aruba switch series we would highly recommend only the new CX range going forwards, this would save disappointments. The 5400 chassis switches do seem to still be available(doesnt help the edge though) Lead times currently are pretty horrendous sadly. Cambium switches if noone has looked into them is what i would be suggesting. Free cloud management for life and limited lifetime support. Most are readily available too in the EX2000 series 1
Aprice Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I'd suggest the Aruba cx6100s, We've found HP / Aruba to just be the best overall. (wish they hadn't messed with the CLI though:) ) We have had a significant number of Unifi / Edgemax switches fail across our estate at various sites, usually just out of warranty. So we tend to shy away from recommending them unless there is a specific circumstance where they are a better fit like the flex switches with POE in and out.
