We have a 125 seat Standalone licence deployment of Autodesk Inventor, which has worked without issue for a number of years. I'm now getting the message that the software isn't licenced. I checked the licence key that pops up when the software loads, and it's not the key I deployed with the software, which is the one on their website.

Where did this other key come from (it's the same on all machines), and how do I push the correct one back out. I found a registry key that had the incorrect key, but changing it there made no difference.

autodesk usually requires a local licensing server?! The license would only last 2 or 3 years before requiring you to update it. (which is a pain in the behind)

We have moved away from Inventor, it was overly complicated for the students and staff. The final push to move was when we received an email asking us to renew our license, just like previous years however this time we couldn't. When attempting to renew our license, the free option was removed and we were asked to pay. I contacted the support team at Autodesk but never received any type of reply or help.

Our staff are now looking at using Sketchup, they say it does enough for what they need and is simpler to learn and teach.

At the moment I've given the correct serial number to the teacher, and he can activate the software as needed. It's not that we don't have a licence, it's just that the software is reporting an incorrect serial number. Autodesk support are less than helpful, but we can't move away from it when students have work on going using it.

Autodesk discontinued the free 3 year licenses

Now on 1 year free license that needs to be verified by sheerid and have to be renewed each year

You need to sign up via the auto desk education site and set you account to it admin so that you can request the multi device license.

Takes a few days for licensee to get added to manage.autodesk.com for deployment package creation.

When I log onto the autodesk site it shows my licence as "perpetual" As I say, if I change the serial number manually the software shows as licenced. It's just got the wrong serial from somewhere.
