Adobe Illustrator and redirected Appdata

We are looking to deploy Adobe CC with a limited set of apps ready for the new school year. We want Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom and InDesign. We have a shared device licence for around 50 computers and have managed to sync up Adobe with AzureAD to allow users to log in to the apps. Deployment of the apps is from the package created in Adobe admin console and pushed out via SCCM.

 

Photoshop and InDesign launch fine but Illustrator and Lightroom don't. Illustrator complains about preferences folder not having the correct permissions and Light room just has a generic error. All our users have redirected AppData folder to a network share along with redirected documents etc. In testing if you don't redirect the appdata folder for a user they can launch both apps fine.

 

I have reached out to Adobe support but they just say that redirected AppData isn't a supported configuration so there isn't anything they can do. I have looked at going to roaming profiles with redirected documents but that breaks the redirected startmenu.

 

Have any of you experienced this and managed to get a work around?

Yes, IME it doesn’t work with redirected AppData. I actually use mandatory profiles (which work like local profiles, but are copied to the local user folder on logon) but they are a legacy solution though they work fine.

We are trialing fslogix profiles. Windows acts like they are local profiles but they are redirected to an individual virtual HD that gets mounted at logon.

 

We're using it to help with our migration to only use Google drive. The idea is to mitigate the risk of a student logging off before files have synced (as the temp files will move with the Fslogix profile and sync the next time they logon).

 

As windows sees it as a local profile it should work for you. In my testing Adobe apps seem to work fine I haven't paid much attention to apps as they all just work.
