Replacement USB-C 45W chargers recommendations

We've recently had an increase in students who have "lost" their chromebook charger, or were it has failed out of warranty. I try and dissuade them from picking up cheap ones from common auction websites or the like, especially if it's "cheap" from a land far, far away without any quality assurance.

In some cases, the chromebooks were free DfE ones so we either retrieve the chromebook without a charger or have to use one from another spare.

 

Does anyone have any recommendations as to a good priced reputable option for these, even if it is the more portable approach of a separate USB-C cable and USB wall charger (higher powered variant)? Quite a few students it seem use their mobile phone charger, but don't always realise that a chromebook will charge slower on these.

I've been looking at getting some spare / replacements. Jack @VeryPC suggested i-tec chargers at what I thought was a reasonable price, although I haven't actually ordered any yet!

Went with the Samsung Travel Adapter EP-TA845 for our Chromebooks. Is basically the 45W charger Samsung include with their Chromebooks. They are compact with a replaceable USB-C cable. Much better than the giant bricks other manufactures still use.

I tend to stick to anker or UGREEN for my usb charging needs. Anker being preferred - quality but not always cheap.

Our Dell chromebooks were 65watts (and induce notifications on 45w chargers saying it's charging slowly). we got a load of official Dell chargers from VeryPC a lot cheaper that what Dell quote on their website. We're having to be fairly strict though, I know students claim they need to 'borrow' chargers etc that ended up powering their Nintendo Switch or fast charging their mobile phone instead (and still come in with flat chromebooks wanting another charger). Got to the stage we won't lend chargers, we'll charge the chromebook in our office and they'll borrow a spare chromebook instead for a couple of periods (which we can then track/disabled if it's not returned). If they lose a charger we'll charge them cost price for a new one. If they claim they have a damaged charger we insist on seeing it (75% of the time we never see them again). It definitely seem the USB-C chargers are more desirable to a lot of people rather than the chromebook themselves.

Thanks all. We have a number of chromebooks in fixed trolleys too, so another option is we get some dual-USB socketed plugs like above and free up the actual chargers in there presently.

 

45W seems to be the standard however I guess if something is being charged overnight then even at ~25W it probably isn't noticeable. As we roll out more and more chromebooks each year, the need is only going to increase!

Has anyone looked in to getting portable USB chargers?

 

Our students aren't meant to bring chargers in to school at all, they should only be charging them at home. If a student turns up with a non-charged Chromebook they borrow a fully charged spare. We never lend chargers as not all classes have convenient plug sockets and they can be a trip hazard. I've always thought we should lend them a portable charger instead so they can use their own Chromebook. Has anyone tried this?

I have one of these for "emergencies" and it works well. Expensive and heavy though.
