I've got to a point where I need my SCCM to do things it's current version doesn't do... Can anyone with a bigger brain than me tell me what my upgrade path is because I think I'm running a version so old all the documentation has gone!

The server is Windows Server 2016, but the SQL is 2008R2 and the running SCCM version is 5.00.8239.1000

What's my upgrade path?

I *really* don't want to have to just bin it and start again because it took me months to get WSUS and SCCM Endpoint Protection to work the way I wanted!

You'll need to build a new "Current Branch" SCCM server and then perform a migration of your assets from the old 2012 R2 environment to the new one.

Got any documentation on that process to hand?
