Hi all,

Has anybody recently migrated from an MDM, to a new one? I am looking at ditching Lightspeed LSMDM, and moving elsewhere, probably Jamf. Mainly due to the price per device per year. I've also thought Lightspeed's customer support, and lack of updates since buying in to them in 2016 has been really poor! (I did hear from our reseller that Lightspeed are mainly focusing on their Security filtering and less bothered about keeping LSMDM cutting edge).

Unfortunately our Lightspeed licence has ran out over half term, so I have no access to the console. However, I imagine all iPads will need manually resetting one by one regardless?

We're a 2 form entry Primary, over 400 pupils, currently have between 250 and 300 iPads (thanks DfE scheme!).

Looking for pointers in what direction to go with this, if anyone has been in a similar position, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My school had Lightspeed and we since moved over to Jamf. Lightspeed was rarely used and never configured properly by my predecessor. Most of the iPads never had the profile installed and ones where they did have them, I simply removed it and performed a factory reset.

In Apple School Manager, ensure that Jamf is your preferred MDM so that when iPads are factory reset they will automatically be enrolled in to Jamf.

I'm in th middle of doing this right now. Lightspeed has annoyed me for years with it's clunkiness. I'm just going through batches of our iPads resetting them and adding them to Jamf via Apple Configurator.

I've used Mosyle Manager at a couple of schools with quite a lot of success. They offer a free account that provides all the key functionality that I required (enrol unlimited devices, set restrictions, manage apps and lock down home screen layouts). Some of the features are locked behind a paywall but the main functionality that I needed was there for free
