Does anyone have any experience of tenent to tenent migrations, particularly any third-party companies that support in the moving of data between tenents?

In summer we are looking at centralising our 7 primaries onto a single tenency. I understand what need to be done with this but I currently looking for recommendations of third-parties who can help with the actual moving of data. The scope of this would be:

  • Email
  • OneDrive
  • Sharepoint
  • Teams (although I am slightly less concerned about this if the underlying sharepoint folders can be mapped to an equivalent teams sharepoint folder

Any advice, recommendations or suggestions would be greatly received.

These guys do this a lot. https://www.allabout365.com/2020/10/learn-about-new-tenant-to-tenant-migration-capabilities-in-the-latest-all-about-365-podcast/ I can't remember if I have listened to this specific episode, but they will often name check their employers or other trusted companies, as well as having ad-reads for services.

For reference in case others find this thread when considering doing this themselves:

There is a guide from Microsoft that covers things at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/microsoft-365-tenant-to-tenant-migrations?view=o365-worldwide

and one specifically for mailboxes: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/cross-tenant-mailbox-migration?view=o365-worldwide

SharePoint migration tools are here: https://stokenewingtonschool-admin.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/online/AdminHome.aspx#/migration

Guides for mover.io (Microsoft's public tool that can do SharePoint Tenant to Tenant migrations) are here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointmigration/mover-o365

I'm in the enterprise space now and we do an O365 tenant-to-tenant migration every few weeks (anything from a handful of users to 15k+) that we run inhouse. Our tool of choice is BitTitan MigrationWiz for Mailbox/Archive and Teams migrations; Mover.io for OneDrive migrations (free) and ShareGate for SharePoint migrations. The MS SharePoint migration tools are OK depending on the complexity of the SharePoint migration (but generally fine for basic stuff) and the MS Exchange tenant-to-tenant migration stuff is also pretty good these days; we just like the additional functionality that MigrationWiz provides.

Use Microsoft's Mover tool to move OneDrive and SharePoint data. Export and Import mailboxes as PST's using a mapping file.
