I'm sure there'll be lots of imitators but the original is deceptively well executed.Just seen that, like most successful free stuff that is good, it gets bought out by the big money holders who will slowly ruin it fir advertising their tat news. Can't blame the developer like they are only looking after themselves. While it's still free. jthompson Posted February 1, 2022 Posted February 1, 2022 The network effect aspect of it seems unlikely to survive much interference from a new owner, especially one buying it for the stated purpose of driving engagement with their other offerings, but then they must have bought it knowing that the network effect aspect was the game's secret sauce. I can't imagine they have any hope of successfully bottling the magic. Sometimes brands can put out nice things for free with no strings attached, no ads and no IAP. e.g. the brilliant Australian Open Game, but it generally almost never seems to happen.

Will they/can they be allowed to remain to be played ad infinitum? I guess the answer will probably be a firm 'no'.

Not sure if it's still about or anywhere to play that is 'safe'... I used to play that on my iPhone 3GS. I think it was a PopCap game. 1

We've just extracted them and mapped them for the next five years! Might try to drop the daily word in conversations the day before they show up :-) 1

The nice thing is, even if the NYT somehow manages to bugger the game up, you can (from a technical point of view at least, perhaps not a legal one) easily grab the game's scripts and host them elsewhere and still play to the same gamebook as before.

If not, I just knocked this up and some may find it of use. Print it and laminate it, then use a whiteboard marker to fill in any correct letters/strike through any totally unsuccessful rows and cross out any letters that are no good/correct and circle any that are in the incorrect place.WordlePad.pdf

Each position has a different offset. 1st letter: a->e 2nd letter: a->m 3rd letter: a->j 4th letter: a->x 5th letter: a->p By my reckoning, that means that https://mywordle.me/?word=yfrfv should have the solution "crack". 1
