LeMarchand Posted December 13, 2021 Posted December 13, 2021 Setting up a load of DfE iPads, but when they are in the cases we bought (that are fine on the others), the screen is dim until the brightness is turned up. However, if logged in to a non-"guest" account things stay fine even after a restart. Any ideas? Also, how do I remove my name from the logon screen after I logged in to see if a change to my login was global?
LeMarchand Posted December 15, 2021 Author Posted December 15, 2021 (edited) Worked out how to remove the name via our MDM. Still having problems with the cases, though. After much experimentation, it seems to me that it's something to do with 9th gens and this case. In the event that we can't swap the cases, anyone got any ideas where the ambient light sensor is? If I lift the top LH corner near the front facing camera (where the sensor is supposed to be), stuff lights up, but if I block the area with anything other than the front of the case, it doesn't dim. wkirk Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Had a similar issue with the brightness. It does seem to be 9th Gens with some cases. Could look into turning off auto brightness and just setting it to a constant level you're happy with. 1
LeMarchand Posted December 16, 2021 Author Posted December 16, 2021 Cheers. Works with named users when logged it (but still has a dim login screen). Unfortunately we use Guest, so the setting isn't retained. Anyone else?
DavR Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Same here with 9th Gen iPads and the cases we got. Put it in the case, it turns brightness down to zero. As it's a one time only thing (not using Shared iPad), I've been happy to just go into Settings and whack the brightness back up again, but interested to hear others experiences. 1
wkirk Posted December 17, 2021 Posted December 17, 2021 Its just annoying that you cant adjust the brightness during the build process. Can make it much harder to correctly enter that complex WiFi password you set up to keep kids off it. No all its doing is keeping us off it:D
