Has anyone worked out how to build a USB disk that can contain several recovery image for the Surface range?

 

This is for when Intune reinstall has not worked.

Are these ISO file images, if so would Ventoy be worth a try. Install Ventoy onto a USB stick then it boots into a GUI where you can install the required OS from a ISO file.

+1 for Ventoy. You can also have more than one partition, so I have an ISO drive and a PortableApps one that also contains useful installers and other bits and bobs. I used to use a Zalman "Virtual Drive" (a 2.5" caddy which could present ISOs as disks at boot) but these are getting hard to find and expensive - now it all fits one one of these, thanks to Ventoy.

 

 

P.S. It's also very easy to set up by following the on-screen prompts and, once done, you can just drop new ISOs into the partition.

So MS say you make recovery disk using working machine then you copy over the machine specific files to make your disk. So I not sure how to replicate this I suppose l build a drive then I need to make an image of it. I am wondering if I could build a windows 10 drive and then do the same. How could I convert the disk back to a iso or Wim?

You could try using disk burning software to create an ISO of the recovery disk. CDBurnerXP should be able to do this. Then use Ventoy and test that ISO. If it works, keep going.
