Hi all,

Looking for for some advise on an asset management system, I have newly started as IT Manager at a primary school and everything is managed on a clunky excel sheet which I really dislike.

We do not have a mass amount of assets so cannot really justify the price tag on some systems.

Was looking for a recomendation on something free or a template database someone may have?

Any advise greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

Daniel

Couple of suggestions:

I used an Android app with built in barcode reader that output direct to a spreadsheet. You could add notes and photos to each record of needed:

I also used the free Spiceworks one for a while. It collects data from network devices including OS and patch status but stopped using it because for some reason it ground to a halt on my network. Pretty sure it was a network issue but that was the only symptom, so never came to the top of my list.

You might not like it all being in a sheet, but as long as your data is properly organised, then you could really take advantage of Google's AppSheet?

AssetTiger is free upto 250 Assets. We have 667 assets (although I am not sure how!) and pay $200 per year. You could certainly give it a try and see if you like it. Edited by Bev

Snipeit free if you locally host it, pretty cheap options for hosting online though.

Used it for a few years at my last MAT job.

No limits etc.
