Projector installation

We need a projector in the main hall - the boss wants it suspened from the ceiling which is a looonng way up. Does anyone know of a supplier/installer in or near us in East Dorset? Or a good national one, of course:)

Just a suggestion, how about a short reach one and mount it on the same wall as the screen?

 

Do you have PE in the Hall, I think a portable trolley and laptop may be the way to go if you do?

I would recommend back projection, you get a much brighter image than front projection. You do need a VERY powerful projector for halls, so be prepared to spend a lot on the projector.

We did ours last year and it cost about £8k altogether, but that included a complete new sound system with surround sound, 5,000 lumens projector, custom built podium, custom motorized screen and cabling sockets from the sound system/projector into the stage. The hall is like proper cinema when that things going:D

The company who did it are a based in Yorkshire but will probably go down to your end of the country if the job is worthwhile.

Its actually proving quite cost effective as we have rewards at the end of each term under our positive behaviour scheme. We used to hire out the whole of our local multiplex cinema and let the kids loose which cost us a fortune. Now we just use the hall as the cinema and provide refreshments etc and possibly a Disco as well.

Dolphin media did our Hall. They managed to use the stage lighting rig to mount the projector which keeps it safe from the PE Dept

Hello Witch,

 

Short throw projectors are good if image sizes below 2 metres, but would not recommend in School hall.

 

Why?

Expensive

Too low, especially if sports are played in hall. even with protection cage can get damaged.

 

Standard ceiling mounted projectors are generally better suited to school halls. As they are higher up and can be mounted on a motorised arm to move higher when not used.

 

Protection cage would also be recommended to protect from stray basket and footballs
