TwistedHelixis Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 We have just started using Arbor and I just noticed it has a built in API to provision users (Staff & pupils) to Google Workspace - I'm so happy :-)
TwistedHelixis Posted July 2, 2021 Author Posted July 2, 2021 How about Office 365 / local AD? Yep it does do 365 provision. Can't see anything about AD (yet)
gh5000 Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 Is there not a cost to this? Thought it was £1 per student
Edu-IT Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Is there not a cost to this? Thought it was £1 per student Think so, yes, as it uses a third party service.
TwistedHelixis Posted July 3, 2021 Author Posted July 3, 2021 Think so, yes, as it uses a third party service. It say, no third party service needed. https://support.arbor-education.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033762733-Google-G-Suite-User-Provisioning-in-Arbor

gh5000 Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Can't see anything about it costing anything.Yeah it's the classroom integration https://support.arbor-education.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017930018-Arbor-integration-with-Google-Classroom-
Primus Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 For a lot of schools Salamander will be cheaper and do more.
Edu-IT Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 It say, no third party service needed. https://support.arbor-education.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033762733-Google-G-Suite-User-Provisioning-in-Arbor I think I was mixing it up with one of the other MIS which does use a third party processor. 1
TwistedHelixis Posted July 5, 2021 Author Posted July 5, 2021 For a lot of schools Salamander will be cheaper and do more. Arbor version looks free to me and seems to do as much as we would need :0)
Primus Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 (edited) Arbor version looks free to me and seems to do as much as we would need :0) Sure, if you're already paying for Arbor and it's included in your pack. My comments related to the post earlier that referenced £1 per student. Their own page says: Our integration with Google for Education can be purchased as a standalone feature and isn't included by default in our packages. To discuss your upgrade options, get in contact at [email protected]. EDIT So looking at it, the free version from Arbor only syncs staff and students in terms of creating accounts, it doesn't then sync for Google Classroom. It looks like the Google Classroom functionality is a paid for option. Edited July 5, 2021 by Primus 1

Primus Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 Yes, it was classroom sync that I was referring to being £1 per student. So for that I'd still say Salamander would be cheaper and do more.
paulkerton Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 So for that I'd still say Salamander would be cheaper and do more. Depends what's on offer, if you need to run a VM or machine to run Salamander for example, you've got to account for those potential overheads too.
Arbor_Maddie Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Hi there, Maddie from Arbor here. To clarify how our Google integrations work: 1. Our secure integration with Google Classroom™ syncs your courses, classes and enrolment information from Arbor automatically to your digital learning platform. This means when you want to set up classes, or if anything changes, you won’t have to enter data twice, saving you lots of time. Included in the integration is working with a Support Partner to set up and maintain your integration. They can also help you with user provisioning, Single Sign On (SSO) and Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). This integration is priced at £1 per student per year, with scaled discounts for Multi-Academy Trusts. See more: https://support.arbor-education.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017930018-Arbor-integration-with-Google-Classroom- 2. You can set up (or “provision”) your Google user accounts for staff and students directly from Arbor, for free, via Google API. This means you don’t need to use a third party (e.g. Groupcall, Salamandersoft) for this user provisioning. See more https://support.arbor-education.com/hc/en-us/articles/360033762733-Google-G-Suite-User-Provisioning-in-Arbor If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. All the best, Maddie
