Blocking Youtube Adverts

So, there appears to have been a marked increase in advertising on Youtube recently, and there's also been an increase in somewhat inappropriate adverts as well. Sophos XG doesn't seem to be able to block them.

 

What do you all do to block them? Apparently Adblock Plus can block them, so I could force install that in Chrome and Edge?

uBlock Origin extension deployed for both Chrome and MS Edge. Avoid Adblock plus as this now adds "acceptable ads" into your browsing.

In addition to the reason tmoon-mint mentioned above, uBlock Origin will also be faster and use less RAM compared to AdBlock Plus.

YouTube sometimes puts the ads on it's own server which means Pi-Hole will not always block adds. I'm using either Fire-TV or Apple TV which goes though Pi-Hole and have pretty comprehensive lists, I still get adds.

Just make key people aware of how to work past it, It kills parentpay - Atleast the admin backend, mucks around with the MIS Reporting randomly too.

 

 

You can deploy custom whitelists through gpo/google admin but i didnt get past just checking if it was possible

uBlock Origin released a bad update a few months back, killed Google Classroom and iSAMS access... Had to revoke it
