Replacing door access control - TDSI wired or wireless solution

We have wired access control solution in place at the moment. Now we are planning to replace with a different door access system and was looking at the TDSi access control solution.

 

I wonder whether to go wired and wireless solution.

 

Please post me your experiences if you have installed TDSi wired and wireless solution.

We have a 10 lock wired access control solution from TDSi based on a number of expert4 controllers and we're very happy with it. One thing I would say is go for the EXKeypad plug-in programmer as well as it will allow you to delegate the activation/deactivation of cards to reception staff with minimal training.

Agree. Also I have found wireless, although more convenient to install, often lack features of the wired version. Paxton Net2 door looks can be locked down or remotely opened, but the wireless versions can't.

Where possible I wire everything and would go out my way to wire doors in if I had to, especially as some features like above do not work on wireless.

We're not using TDSi but I may have some insight.. We're using Grosvenor Sateon, it's been replaced with a newer backend but I've got no plans of replacing all the controllers.

 

I've got a mixture of wired and wireless locks running on the system. Wired for main doors, where maglocks are in place with HID readers/Automatic doors/ANPR etc...

 

Wireless Aperio H100 door handles on student dorms, euro cylinder in the lock is the "manual override". These are pricey though, they look the part and functionality is great. Very picky about fitting though, not much tolerance for errors or they just go into error, but this is all in the fitting.

 

My assumption is that it's all about the requirements at a specific location and you go with what works best for that door, then standardise on that deployment for that use case.

The problem with wireless solutions is you have batteries to maintain. It can become a pain!
