Close program on "switch user"

Hi all, just thought i'd ask here before going down the rabbit hole....

 

We have switch user enabled here, we also have a network app for our visualiser software. we'll call this cam.exe.

 

userA has cam.exe open and switches user/locks their machine. userB logs on and wants to use cam.exe. They get a error message saying that cam.exe is already open and being used by another user.

 

We have to remind users to close cam.exe when they no longer need it........ but you know...... users.....

 

Anybody know of a way to close an app if a session is closed and/or locked?

No scope to turn off Switch Users? It really is a bodge and introduces more issues than it fixes.

One of the fancier options might also work. Disconnect or lock/unlock?

Ha ha ha, yes. I went the short term pain for long term gain. Lots of whining but told them to get over it and pointed out how the machines slowed down when lots of them did it. Staff weren't bothering logging out as they knew it wouldn't stop someone else, but it was slowing the PCs right down. We were having to tell people to reboot the machine anyway so turned it off and told staff that if some one had abandoned a machine logged in you were allowed to just turn the PC off. Also laboured the point that if they stayed logged in they were stopping someone else getting on. Peer pressure did the rest.

Ah well, spoke too soon..... no "close program" option. can see this snowballing

Use a script - taskkill /im cam.exe /t /f

shutdown -l will log off users as a command.
