Power requirements

Would a 16 amp socket be sufficient for:

 

• UPS - APC 3KVA
  
• 4 Switches - 2 x Aruba 2930F & 2 x Aruba 2540
  
• Server - 2 x 500W power supplies
  
• Monitor
  
• ISP router
  
• ISP filtering appliance

IIRC, the APC 3kva UPS I’ve got in one of my smaller server rooms has a 16amp commando feeding it and it’s perfectly happy.

 

That will be more than enough to run that small amount of equipment

Only thing I'd add to Norphy's reply, is that if your server has dual (presumably redundant) power supplies, it would be ideal if they could be on different supplies.

Think that is more than enough. Depending on your local supply failure rate.

 

For Comparison I have a 1500 APC at home and power a Dell T620 (4 X SATA, 2 X SAS, 128GB RAM) with 2 X 750w, a Fujitsu TX1310 M1, A synology DS1517+ with 2 bay expansion, 2930f 24G SFP+, 2930f 8 port PoE+. With that lot running I get about 30mins run time.

 

As Others have said I'd split the Server to different circuit/supply if it has 2 X PSUs, I'd also put one of the 2930fs and 2540s on a different supply too. This would give a possibility for maintenance of the UPS although changing batteries can sometimes be done without shutdown.

I'd always add if you're concerned about current draw look at the entire circuit, not just the outlet you're working with. 13a sockets are typically on a 32a ring main, trying drawing a full 13a on 3/4 sockets and you'll see what I mean. Perhaps more pertinent as 16a sockets don't have fuse protection, so check your breakers (it should really be fed direct from a circuit board via it's own breaker)
