Cordless phone inference

So had a phone call last night someone I know their cordless phones have inference do I have any suggestions, they are BT branded from Tesco recently purchased for what ever reason I don't know.

 

They are a quad set plugged into the ONT (KCom fibre internet and voice now over this), router is upstairs via a CAT5 cable, said router is a KCom Zyxel provided thing.

 

Phones were replaced with these (reason for unknown) but if sit directly under the room with the router in they cannot use the phone and have to move away so my thoughts are on some inference from the router, never know it but do believe it's possible. It may not even be theirs but maybe next door but moving away from upstairs does make me wonder.

 

Firstly has anyone ever come across this and other than changing channels either on router or phone any other tips before I go at the weekend and have a look.

What interference do they get?

 

I have one corded phone in my house, it lives near my TV/Sky box/Router setup and during all calls (about 4 a year) I can hear a tv station on my phone line, as in I can make out what adverts are on at the time. Even if my TV and Sky box are off. I've replace the filter on the wall and BT have done a line test. Been like this for about 4 years.

It is impossible to understand each other at either end of the phone and then if you can its broken until they move away.

 

It's not line issues as that's over fibre its wireless inference and the landline is the main line (its an elderly couple).

If you turn the router off can you make internal calls on the cordless phones without interference? Can you turn the 2.4ghz radio off on the router? Some cordless phones use this frequency.

Not sure till I go at the weekend, its not on my door step to nip to.

 

Cannot turn the 2.4 off due to legacy devices connected.

It would be interesting to switch 2,4 off for 10 mins, however to see if that made any difference with the phones...

If this isn't on the line interference then I guarantee this is 2.4GHz interference. Wi-Fi could do it, Microwaves could do it.

Where is the base station located? Next to the router?

I suspect its 2.4GHz interference too.

 

Base station is in the living room downstairs and in the office/bedroom above the router is located there.
