The Network Manager is responsible for the 3rd Line Engineer and the IT Technicians

 

The Network Manager will work collaboratively with the Director of IT, the Bursar, and the Senior Leadership Team to inform the design, co-development, and implementation of the School’s IT/Digital Learning strategy. The successful applicant will oversee and measure the service delivered by the IT Service Desk including but not limited to IT infrastructure, Management Information Systems (MIS), IT Systems and Device/User Training. Developing appropriate policies and sharing knowledge through training and regular communication will be key aspects of this role.

 

Responsibilities:

 

· Be responsible for the day-to-day provision of support and management of the school’s ICT resources ensuring that there is adequate provision to meet the needs of the staff and students.

· Be responsible for management and support of the schools’ core infrastructure, services, and data within defined SLAs to ensure a continuity of service to all users including fault diagnosis, and resolution.

· Prioritise workloads to maintain service levels and service KPI’s within a structured service framework.

· Work with the Bursar and Director of Digital Strategy and IT in the preparation and management of IT budgets.

· Ensure all systems are configured to best practice and are regularly kept up to date.

· Ensure completion of daily backups and regular monthly restore tests and reporting.

· Contributing to the development of IT/Digital Learning strategy.

· Ensure the IT Systems, policies and process documentation is created, reviewed regularly, and updated.

· To maintain the IT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plan and ensure it is up-to-date and robust.

· Continuous Service Excellence

· Be responsible for the overall service of the ICT Help to the school’s IT users.

· Provide regular reporting on the performance of ICT Help to Director of Digital Strategy and IT.

· Ensure the ICT Help are providing support and management of core infrastructure, services, and data within defined SLAs to ensure a continuity of service to all users including fault diagnosis, and resolution.

· To ensure the school is compliant with their Data Security and GDPR policy.

· Review and audit data flows across the School and devise strategies and policies for data storage and retention.

· Assist in any Subject Access Requests and any complaints which may arise from data security.

· Review and keep update the IT Risk register, identifying current and/or potential risks to the schools’ SLT.

· Have a good understanding of Data Protection / GDPR.

· Assist in the recruitment process and leading the induction and assessment of new IT department members.

· Conduct appraisals and oversee the Continuing Professional Development of departmental staff.

 

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:

 

· ITIL Foundation

· Azure Fundamentals

· Networking exams such as CCNA or similar

· VMware VCP

· Microsoft MSCA or above

· Google Classroom Training

· Experience of working within a structured IT support/helpdesk environment.

· Experience or knowledge of the following key technologies:

- Windows 10, Windows Server 2012R2, 2016 and 2019

- Client (desktop, laptops, tablets, and server hardware)

- VMware vSphere\vCenter

- Microsoft Azure Active Directory and Exchange Online

- Google Classroom

- Networking – DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VLANs, switching, firewall, wireless, WAN.

- Aruba Wired and Wireless including ClearPass.

- Virtual server backup technologies such as Veeam

- Mobile device management

- Apple, Chromebook etc.

- Classroom Audio and Visual equipment

- Sophos Anti-virus technology - Fortinet Firewalls
