Best Classroom management software for Windows 10 1:1 Devices

Hi,

I am investigating the use of classroom management software for 1:1 devices in a Secondary setting. New Year 7 will have a Windows 10 Surface Device, which they will buy through a school scheme, so we will be able to install our software onto the device.

 

We will have Microsoft Teams SDS set up so should be able to create Teams etc from that.

 

Has anyone had success with any providers of this kind of software (that offers Lock/Unlock, Thumbnails, Open apps/web etc). I have slight concerns that it will be difficult to ensure teachers do not accidentally manage devices they shouldn't be managing at the time (they will only have access to their classes, but obviously in secondary, the pupil will have many teachers in a day, all of whom will have the device management). It would be nice to be able to specify a calendar of when teachers have access to their pupils devices.

So far I have used Lanschool and Impero. Lanschool used to be much cheaper but lacking some features that Impero has. 2 years ago Impero priced matched Lanschool fosr us and I have to admit it is much better.

 

I don't think you can setup classes in that way you want - not available to teacher when they stop teaching given class. But you can easily divide classes in groups and name them as you want.

 

Impero does do Lock/unlock screen, block internet, allow/block lists/ open url/app on students device, mute sound, broadcast teacher screen and of course live view of student screens. It does work really well and so far we didn't have any big problems.

Most important is to train teachers well, so they know how to operate it well.

We use Impero too. Some of our teachers have it but only those that teach in computer rooms at the moment as we are not 1:1.

Thanks all! We are trialling Senso this week. I like the interface and it syncs with Teams SDS.

We implemented SENSO this year during lockdown and it is simply brilliant and the support team are really friendly and straight talking.

The major selling point for me was that the control UI is web based so you can access it from a phone or tablet on the go.
