DfE Laptop BIOS Passwords Not Working

I am trying to reinstall Windows on some of the little Geobook 1E ****books given to school for free by the DfE last year as they have all sorts of issues but the BIOS passwords they provided are not working. Apparently they all have the same password (4e3xact11*****) but it does not work on any of them. Anyone else had a similar issue with these?

I'm guessing your order went through these guys same as ours, drop them an email and they should be able to help or ask whoever ordered them on your school behalf to log in and check the documentation.

Raise a ticket with computacenter. We had this issue and they sent us a BIOS reset tool. Basically boot it into Windows and run this tool to remove the BIOS password.

We had a similar issue and this solved it for us:

 

We have identified the issue regarding the password applied to the BIOS of your Tactus or Dynabook devices.

 

Please use the supplied password with 0010 or j suffixed.

 

For example, if the supplied password is 123xyz456, use 123xyz4560010 or 123xyz456j.

 

Once you try this could you please let me know how you get on?

Apparently, just letting the battery drain on one of those Geobooks is enough to make it forget its bios password.

 

Haven’t tried it myself but there’s a big long thread about them on this forum and that was one of the major complaints about them
