Role Overview

The successful candidate will receive a host of benefits including a pension contribution of 18%, onsite parking and 25 days annual leave. As the Senior ICT Technician for our client you will report directly to the Business Manager. You will be responsible for maintaining hardware, software and providing technical support.

A varied and interesting role, this position will involve working with a variety of employees across the organisation, and will suit someone with excellent customer service. This position may involve evening and weekend work, so flexibility is essential.

 

Responsibilities:

· Maintaining our client’s hardware including all network, servers, workstations, and printers

· Provide 1st, 2nd and 3rd line technical support

· Detect and resolve any issues with PCs, tablets and printers

· Install and upgrade client applications

· Spot threats to information security and be actively involved in the resolution of any threats

· Install essential software patches

· Use network images to build PCs and laptops

· Install and configure switches and routers

· Maintain all hardware, software and user accounts

· Manage access rights

· Resolve user problems through troubleshooting

· Maintain backup systems, AV equipment, printers and manage server storage

· Implement our client’s network and security policies

· Negotiate with suppliers in order to purchase equipment and software when requested

· Maintain an accurate hardware register

· Support and contribute to any ICT improvement plans and help to deliver ICT training

 

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge:

· Minimum of 5 GCSEs with grades A* - C (including English and Maths)

· Degree within a discipline relevant to IT and a minimum of 3 years experience in a role within IT OR a minimum of 5 years of experience in a relevant role

· Experience of working to targets

· Exceptional skills in Microsoft Office 2010

· An understanding of the Education sector

· Practical experience of Windows Server management and support

· Experience managing VMware virtualised server systems, and backup systems including Veeam and BackupExec

· Experience using Windows Active Directory and Group Policy

· Knowledge of Data Protection, Copyright, Health & Safety and Safeguarding

· Proactive and flexible approach to work

· Works well under pressure

· Good attention to detail and analytical skills

· Comfortable problem solving

· An interest in CPD

 

Nice to have but not essential:

· IT specific qualifications

· Experience leading IT projects and managing IT technicians

· Experience of disaster recovery

· An understanding of wireless network configuration

· Skills in web development

· Experience with VoIP telephone systems
