Sky bit further down, here is the background.

I have installed a Hikvision CCTV system for a friend. All worked well, some cameras are directly connected to NVR, other cameras are connected via LAN.

All working then suddenly the LAN cameras will not work, can ping them etc but no communication to NVR. Also, internally cannot get to NVR web gui.

System is a Sky router and a Ubiquiti switch.

Troubleshooting I found that removing a cable from the switch made it all work. Plug back in and it stopped again. Traced cable and it was plugged into a Sky Q Mini box. Main Sky box was WiFi.

So I decided to put the main Sky box on LAN, Sky Q Mini on LAN and renamed the SSID so both boxes wouldn’t connect to the WiFi.

The main Sky Q box though still seemed to create a WiFi network though.

Just wondering if anyone has Sky Q and Sky Q Mini setup in their house via LAN and have had any issues?

We've had awful problems last few days with our Sky Q Boxes. Not specifically relating to your situation tho...

We originally had it VLAN'd off but it wasn't playing nice for some reason (All UniFi Kit (and the new UDM Pro as the Gateway)).

Last three days nothing is working on any of the mini-boxes. I've reset all of the kit from scratch and everything is on VLAN 1 but still nothing. I'm not too sure if it's the UniFi kit or Sky but we're in the exact same situation. We also turned off the WiFi (via engineers menu) but it's too far to get a connection Wirelessly anyway so it needed to be on Ethernet.

Are you able to get any "satellite" signal on the Miniboxes out of interest? We're just getting "No Satellite" on all of ours at the minute (bar the main box) so something is definitely up.

I sincerely doubt it is the problem; but the UniFi hack and everything suddenly breaking happened almost around the same time here.

I haven’t even looked at the Mini too much. Just trying to get main unit working. Our minis don’t have satellite connectors, so I assume they get it via the main box?

I've been having similiar issues with drop-outs which I'm still investigating. I've got a Unifi Dream Machine with the main Sky Q Box Connected via Ethernet, and UAP-AC-IW (Wireless Uplink to the DM) with a mini Box connected via Ethernet too.

Initially I found that the Access Point after a while started to route traffic through the Sky Mini Box (through the mesh network to the main Sky Box). Using the Sky Engineers menu as previously mentioned I've disabled the Wifi and thus this has stopped it running data through the Sky mesh network.

However, I still get occassional drop-outs (Wifi Signal is strong). Any devices connected to the UAP-AC-IW continue to be connected via Wifi and can ping the AP, however, Internet Access stops working to these clients. The DM continues to work fine with both Internet and Wifi devices but reports the AP as being disconnected. After a while it fixes itself but if I need to restore it quicker power cycling the AP usually fixes it, however, the Sky Mini box then complains and the only way to get it working again is to power cycle that too. I've had the Unifi gear since the beginning of March.

So I found out that anything other than a 192.168.1.x or 192.168.0.x IP address range doesn't work with skyQ. It's their way of controlling the personal use only so that businesses cannot use it.

give yourself a VLAN with a 192.168.1.x range and only put those skyQ boxes on it and you should be fine! :)

I had SkyQ with a 172.16 and it worked fine

Yep my skyQ (no minis though) is using a /24 on a different 192 range and works fine. Goes through a unifi switch too. Hikvision also working without issue although that’s on its own vlan as was the unifi video system before it.

I’d be inclined to think it’s some sort of weird sky mesh WiFi issue but that’s a guess

same for me, 172.16 worked fine. We has issues with 2 sky setups on the same network not playing. I'm wondering if we put them on separate VLANS will they then play?
