Jcx500 Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 Been rebuilding my homelab today and stripped back some and moved to onedrive etc Just wondering if anyone is using an affordable backup for your home systems . If so what are you using Thanks
Steve21 Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 I guess that depends what you're trying to backup in your lab, but from your OneDrive comment, why not use Veeam community + OneDrive for free? Steve 1

Steve I’m guessing my best way is to map is a network drive on my backup vm and set that as a Veeam target ?

Basically yep, as long as the compressed Veeam files are under 100Gb etc, which most lab VMs should be I'd hope, it'll then just sync up to OneDrive and you have a free backup for all purposes really Even if you are already using your OneDrive allowance (assuming you have a paid for copy) you could just pay the £1 more the family edition and get 4 more 1TB OneDrives to use Steve 1

aicrd Posted March 20, 2021 Posted March 20, 2021 I'm doing it the same we do it at work. Backing up directly to Azure Blob storage. Think it costs me about £20 a month, although I backup my entire NAS using Duplicati, not just my Homelab. 1
KK20 Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 I have a synology 216j at home with a pair of 4Tb raid 1 drives in it. This syncs with our personal onedrive. Our PCs at home have a H drive that maps to the synology sync folders 1
Davit2005 Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 (edited) I use Veeam free edition then back that up encrypted to external HDDs/SDDs stored at work as well as another NAS at home. I've got around 20+ odd VMs so backing up those VMs to cloud is going to be expensive not to mention time consuming on a 50/16Mbps VDSL link. If I lose it all then the practice of rebuilding will be time consuming but that is OK. Some systems have their own config backups in addition (firewall, switches, routers, etc.) which are backed up to local NAS and AWS. Edited March 22, 2021 by Davit2005 1
