Good afternoon,

I have been asked to install Classroombookings on a webserver. I have tried installing it on Linux (Ubuntu) but i am constantly running into permission issues and Classroom bookings not detecting my database.

The furthest I have got is setting it up within Windows 10 - I have got the database sorted, all requirements are met, but then i'm hitting another (again to do with permissions I believe). Has someone set this up on Windows before, and possibly able to help me through?

Thanks in advance!

Hi gregray, author of classroombookings here!

It looks like permissions for the database user is the cause of those errors, or it's connecting to the IPv6 address which the permissions aren't set up for, or doesn't have access to the classroombookings database.

If MySQL is running on the same server as the web server (Apache/IIS), try using '127.0.0.1' as the database host, or the IPv4 address if it's another server.

Also make sure that the user you created has permission to connect from the server.

Craig.

Thank you for your quick response. Yes it was permissions again - I had already granted the user permission once, I had to do it again though.

Many thanks

Hi Craig,

We have the booking system configured and ready to go, and it's brilliant. There is only one thing we have having trouble with - We have set up the LDAP settings, and on the test settings box, it works absolutely fine. However, when trying to actually log in using the same credentials, it says Incorrect username and/or password. Have you experienced any trouble like this before?

Thanks again in advance

Hi gregray, that's great!

If the 'Test Settings' bit works fine, then logging in should do as well. The only things to make sure are:

- Tick 'Use LDAP to authenticate users' - this makes the login process check LDAP.

- Tick 'Automatically create user accounts on successful login' - if your user accounts aren't already created/imported in classroombookings.

Hi Craig,

Thank you so much for your continued support on this. We managed to log in eventually after a restart of XAMPP - not sure what happened there!

We can all log in as expected, and all the rooms and booking works well. There is one last question - We have set up the User Attribute mapping with the correct attributes to populate from LDAP - however, they don't fill out. Obviously we can get around this using a prepopulated spreadsheet, but it would be nice for this to fill out on-the-fly. Is there anything you can suggest to try?

Thanks once again, and hopefully for the last time!

Hi, that's brilliant - glad it's working! Can't explain why a restart of XAMPP fixed it, but that's IT sometimes :D

For the attribute mapping, there are two things to check: 1) make sure you've set a search filter, and 2) make sure the attributes are filled in in AD/LDAP.

When you use the Test Settings box, the attributes you want to map should come back, and be displayed in the results area.
