Google - Shared Drives - keep getting 'request for access' messages.

For whatever reason, recently I keep getting 'request for access' requests for files or folders in the school's shared drives.

We have our Shared Drives locked down so only the Admin (me) can add or remove shared drive users and we dont use file or folder level permissions, the permissions are all set on the root only.

Speaking to someone that I recieved a 'request for access' from, they wanted to share a folder with the other members of the shared drive in an email, the way they did this was to right click on the folder in the shared drive and click share, they then typed in the teachers group and clicked share. I then get a 'request for access' message asking for edit access to a folder for the teachers group. When I check who has access to both the shared drive and the folder it already lists the Teachers group with edit access.

Any ideas why I am getting this issue?

Is it possible to remove the 'Share' option from files in a Shared Drive and only have 'Link Shareing' as an option, it's not like the members of a shared drive can actually add or remove users on the folders or files anyway as its locked down.

remove everyone from the manager role, make the users who need access content managers or whatever it is, if you need to muck about bump yourself to manager via google admin. Had the same issue a few weeks back, if your drive access is managed by groups people shouldnt need it anyway

The notifications/access requests get sent to managers

It's because you're the owner and/or the admin of the share is my understanding. I haven't found a way round this either, other than to delete the email.

I am the only manager, everyone else is content manager.

Thats the problem demote yourself - you can always force yourself back to manager using admin, stops the emails in the meantime :)
