mitchell1981 Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Can anyone else with Smoothwall and a 1Gbps fibre connection show me what this graph shows on your external connection: I just want to gauge if this is normal, or a bit slow. Seems a bit slow to me, and lots of people complaining about slow remote access. Our fibre is synchronous. Thanks!
DGardiner Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 That graph averages the peaks so you wont see the spikes on such a long dataset, just hit a speed test and open the live traffic logs 1
mitchell1981 Posted February 12, 2021 Author Posted February 12, 2021 Yes, thank makes sense. I'll give it a go. Thanks.
DGardiner Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Id check your appliance too... depending on the model it wont filter a 1gb line at full speed - i think you need a "green" S8 or better to be able to do 1gb
Davit2005 Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 fast.com is a good speed test not full of adverts like some
robyholmes Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 I also believe the Smoothwall graph is traffic going through guardian only, so any non Web traffic or auth bypass etc doesn't get included.
ibpalle Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 The graphs for the interfaces show all traffic, not just web traffic. The reports - realtime - traffic graphs can also be a good resource when examining bandwidth as well as 'iftop' on the command line. A speedtest can be run directly on the console as well by issuing the command 'speedtest' 1
