Google Meet - Can a school just buy the breakout room addon?

Hi, One of my primary schools needs to use breakout rooms in Google Meet and have asked if there is a paid addon just for this? I dont think there is but thought I had better check.

Not just Breakout rooms, you need G Suite Enterprise for Education and it's a minimum order of 50 licenses at around £42 each.

Not currently no. You'd need Enterprise.

Google have their big Education event in a few weeks (replacing what they'd usually announce at BETT) so it might be worth signing up and see if they've got plans.

Whatever they do, they'll price things so the greater value is in site licensing Enterprise though!

After a few great years, Google have started putting more and more on the enterprise edition..

If the licence was a bit cheaper for us small primary schools that would be OK

We're coming to the end of a 30 day trial and ideally I'd like to buy 25 licenses, but looks like we'll have to buy 50. I'm going to hold back ordering until the announcement has been made, hopefully over half term.

A work around which isn't that dynamic but it works.

 

Create a google meet event and take your link

Go to your classroom and go to Classwork, generate a new resource and add the link as your resource.

On the right, change it so only the relevant students see that resouce.
