Has anyone created or bought a solution for electronic mark-books

I have been tasked with this and then to create reports that pull data from these mark-books. Looking at using Sharepoint 2007 , I know Sims has assessment manager but nobody likes it here and would like something designed for their needs.

I couldn't find anything in Moodle so if anyone knows about this please let me know.

I have been to a meeting about it today And given a picture of the teachers idea

The first column is names pulled from SIS second MIDYIS

Does any one have a good way to do this

Staff would like this to be available at home and school so i was thinking about web app but not sure if i am going the right direction

Ideas most welcomed on this

The problem is staff would like to be able to do this at home (most are technically challenged so vpn is not an option)

Web based just appeals to most people as not every one has excel for instance

Assessment Manager is available using the SIMS webparts.

I have heard of a school using a product called i2report, or ireport i think this is there website i think: i2Q education : i2Report

Basically you can extract data from SIMS then display it in there system, i think its designed for school reports but you could use the templates to display MYDIS data and SIMS data then add forms to the template for teacher submission?

Its web based, but im not ssure about cost?

Looked at moodle its a non starter because the teachers want a system thats indepedant. From what i can see the Moodle one is ok for courses in Moodle but they would like to enter scores for tests that they do on paper aswell. I am supprised more schools have not had this problem are do they all do this still on paper??

Ours is an in house solution - we had a phd student come in and write it for us

Terminal server with Sims.net using assessment manager using 128bit encryption. Works fine here.

End-users have access from home, also can be set-up for parent access if need be. :)
