How you guys prevent this sort of this happening? Is it a training issue on behalf of the teacher or can it be prevented by IT?

I’m interested from a Teams point of view because we use it ourselves but also from a google meet or Zoom point of view too.

I know in Teams you can prevent anonymous access but does that mean every student has to be a guest user?

Do you feel using the lobby would prevent this?

Any other thoughts, I’d love to hear them.

All our children have accounts to join our Meet sessions. Any sessions with external people use lobbies so have to explicitly be let in.

Exactly this. All students have accounts and must use it to access the meeting. Teachers are told to reject all guest admissions from the lobby unless they have an external speaker planned.

For clarity you mean a guest account on our tenant?

Without an account you can't verify who someone is. Guest accounts work ok, but not brilliantly. If you want external people you need everyone to be trained on how they work on the system.

Doesn't help with your Teams setup but in Zoom (at least with an education account), you can set up meetings to require participants to be authorised users, so they have to authenticate with their school Azure/Google account before they can access the meeting. This doesn't require them to have Zoom accounts.

We use the lobby for everyone. Only the organiser can bypass. Teachers often complained that students would stay the meeting with the teacher then coming in late. Not heard of any issues with guest bombers

They must have this feature also in zoom as my son has to wait to be let in by his teacher.

Google meet not sure I’m afraid
