Microsoft authenticator app from play store - will staff need to have google account

Hi

 

One of the staff have a android mobile phone. We have set up Multi factor authentication on 0365 and to set up MFA I would like to download the Microsoft authenticator app from the play store and install on the phone

 

To download the authenticator app from play store , will the staff need to have google account?

Pretty certain they will. I’d be surprised though if someone is running an Android phone without one.

Is the phone managed by MDM? If so you can push the app. If not they need a Google Account. Its pretty difficult to use an Android Account without a Google Account.

Not to be rude but I'd be really wary of downloading a security app from an unofficial source.
