I’ve recently setup a vm solely for Keepass password manager and locked it down quite heavily. I was storing passwords in a password protected excel sheet before. How are you storing passwords? Maybe the dedicated VM is a bit overkill ?

Did similar for our company but with bitwarden.

KeePass here, too. A dedicated VM does seem a bit overkill. We have our kbdx file just in regular file storage and also synced to Google Drive. It's only ever going to be decrypted in memory on the client device. The KeePass application is either deployed via MSI or run as a portable app.

I run Bitwarden on a dedicated VM via their Docker image. The server is only accessible internally or via a VPN as well and everyone has MFA enforced on their accounts.

We use Zoho Vault (we also use their helpdesk).

 

This has a handy chrome plugin for auto filling/generating.

Keyvault here mentioned it before and now has some direct integration with the PS secrets management module see here :

You get all the goodness of MFA and the likes as well as being able to retrieve the secrets via code. Also the ability to get the vault to manage and request certs is worth investigating as well.
