Something I've noticed about quite a lot of schools is the amount of spare flat-roof space they have - scatter a few rocks and/or other fun obstacales / discoverables around and you have an environment for a robot to explore. You'd want something that could be kept running by solar power so people don't have to keep clambering up to the roof to change batteries, and weather-proof enough to handle wind, rain, sunc, etc.
