Broadcasting whole classroom

I've been asked to find some webcam/microphone equipment so that a whole class can be streamed to another room (or recorded). So the webcam would see all the children in the class and the microphone would have to pick up children speaking.

Has anyone had experience of this type of equipment?

Had to do simular recently, setup a Unifi G3 Flex Camera on the network. Decent video and microphone quality for the price! Does require something running the UniFi video software for it to be decent though, standalone mode was rubbish quality.

Microphone is the main problem, do you really want the whole class to be able to transmit their words? Sounds like a bad idea.

 

But if so need a microphone array mounted in the ceiling probably

We do this every day with a semi decent webcam and teams meetings. The mic in the webcam is more than capable to hear a student on the other side of the room.

We do the same thing, normal webcam is more than sufficient, the only extra thing we do is put an active USB on the webcam so we can position it on top of the SmartBoard. We use this method for when a teacher is isolating so they can continue teaching their class as normal.

The microphone is more of a concern but I'll have to test it.

We've set this up in a couple of classrooms using a wide angle webcam and a cheap USB conference mic, the webcam's mic wasn't good enough to pick up students at the back of the room and the USB conference mic has a very visual mute button for the cover teacher to press.

Webcam is pretty wide-angle so when put just in front of the board, it managed to capture the entire classroom.

we've been pointing the laptop at the classroom setup by the classroom TA. In some rooms we got the hue visualizer put it on a shelf and pointed at the class
