Im trying to log on to a vista home premier machine as administrator but I cant seem to find a way to change the log on name from the normal user to administrator. All there is is a password field.

the admin account is disabled by default you will need to enable it.

right click the Command prompt icon in start menu select run as administrator.

now type "net user administrator /active:yes"

log out and you should see admin account

to disable do same but type "net user administrator /active:no"

hope this helps

Useful for future reference thanks..

but in this case I dont know the user's password so was trying to just log in as administrator hoping the password would be blank like most xp installs.

Its no big deal Ill just need to find the teacher to ask her the password.
