GIMP Type Software for Chromebooks

[Danp]

GIMP online via offidocs.com doesn't run too well on a lower res screen Chromebooks, fine on Chromebase though.

Any suggestions on an app I can deploy that would work better? I see GIMP can be installed via Linux mode enabled, would rather not go down that route as it could start other problems.

Thank you, a bit more than that, something along the lines of cropping pictures, dropping in other photos as layers, example they gave was putting a cat in the hands of Mona Lisa!
