Afternoon all.

As I type this, I have no idea how best to explain it, but let's give it a shot!

All of our class data is hosted in SIMS and uploaded to O365 by SDS for Teams classes. Everythig works well.

But, we have carousel classes. These groups change their members each half term or so as the pupils move through the different subjects within the carousel. The class code on the timetable remains the same each time, but the list of pupils in the class will change.

We only went live with Teams last term and so SDS did the trick and created the carousel groups correctly with the correct pupils. Now we have moved to the next group and so the pupils list for each class has changed in SIMS. If I upload the new data via SDS I will get the correct list of pupils in the Team, but I suspect I will still get all of the last classes content. So, a new class could see the last classes chat history and files.

So I suspect I should delete the Teams effected before running the new SDS sync. That would recreate blank classes with the correct pupils in them. But, some staff want to keep the files in place to prevent them having to re-populate their content.

I don't think this is possible, but wanted to check with the wider community. Does anyone know a way of selectivly clearing parts of a Team out before re-syncing with SDS?

The more I think about it, the more work I suspect this will lead to. Each department will probably have different needs, but I just want to see if anyone has had to do this kind of thing before and has any ideas.

Thanks all!

You'll want to archive the old Teams, which SDS lets you do. This keeps the old content and classes, and gives the option of allowing users to still access them. You should create the new Teams with a prefix to differentiate them from the old (this is what Salamander does, by adding a chosen prefix). I'm not sure if you can do that in normal SDS but I'd guess so.
