We've just ordered some new slim desktops, and the deputy head is worried they will go missing because they can easily fit in a kids bag. What security do you think is best and what do you use? We don't really want to use locks as such or bolt them to the desk. Suppose we could use infra-red pens or something similar?

CCTV and a great big bushy beard. (aka a head the kids are all scared of).

 

For more portal kit, say laptops, we stick them in the laser cutter and set it to engrave the school name, telephone number and postcode at .3 or .5mm.

 

This has warranty implications of course.

See we don't really want to ingrave them as we have a 3 year nbd warranty on them and are leased through syscap.

What about marking them with that ink which only shows up under UV light?

Good old selectamark for us! It's messy yes, but it does the job well. We also have foil asset labels with the school name and postcode on which are suposidly un-removeable, but they don't work very well.
