cheaptonersucks Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 Hi, Staff can view/access OneDrive on the left hand side in the folder structure within file explorer in windows 10. Students don't have anything in file explorer for OneDrive, but can obviously access OneDrive via 365. The IT manager has checked and can't find any policies that would be causing this to happen. We are running roaming profiles, but staff have roaming profiles, and they do have OneDrive showing in file explorer. Just wondered if anyone has any ideas why this is occurring please? There isn't anything showing for OneDrive in appdata for students?? But there is for staff??
synaesthesia Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 There's your issue right there. Roaming profiles haven't been supported for quite some time and each time said user logs on, their profile is going to be attempting to sync and Onedrive will effectively be trying to set itself up over and over again. Get rid of roaming profiles and suddenly life seems so much simpler. 1
cheaptonersucks Posted October 14, 2020 Author Posted October 14, 2020 Thanks, I thought roaming profiles was the cause. What type of profile do you use?
synaesthesia Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 Local with UEV to roam a few settings (office bits mostly). Had mandatory profiles and still do for the older year groups only because we havent gotten around to moving them over yet 1
cheaptonersucks Posted October 15, 2020 Author Posted October 15, 2020 Is it a big task moving from roaming profiles to local? I am not the IT manger, so don’t have the rights permissions to the servers to move to local profiles anyway but am just interested.
