JoeRogue Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 Hi Guys, I have ordered a PS5 and am now looking at getting new monitor (I like to game at a desk rather than in front of a TV), have been looking at 4k monitors with a 120 Hz. I seem to find either one or the other before it gets very expensive, is it just a case that I will have to drop a fair bit of money on one or does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks
3s-gtech Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 May be worth also making sure it has Freesync. Your requirements are still at the peak of monitors, potentially, and spending £1000 upwards is going to be very easy indeed. What size are you looking at? 1
JJonas Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 4K 120Hz HDMI 2.1 monitors/TV's are expensive at the moment because it is new technology. My plan is to wait and see what happens as the price should decrease over the next year as the standard become more established. 1
JoeRogue Posted October 14, 2020 Author Posted October 14, 2020 27" would be plenty for me, max 32" but even that would seem too big for where I sit.
sted Posted October 15, 2020 Posted October 15, 2020 honestly id wait until ps5's are out in the wild and someone else can compatibility test combinations for you. Even lg who seem ok at this needed (and im not 100% sure its out of beta) patch their tvs for nvidia 3000 series cards (and im guessing a smart tv is easier to patch than a non smart monitor) i foresee the same happening with a lot of screens as people put hdmi 2.1 compliant on but they are not 100% compliant etc 1
the_quick Posted November 20, 2020 Posted November 20, 2020 (edited) There are questions about PS5 outputting 120Hz at 1080p on monitors that have HDMI 1.4. It works through a normal PCs fine (120Hz is the limit), but apparently it doesn't work with PS5 and you need at least HDMI 2.0 input on the monitor. Not many on the market atm.
