Anyone got one of these yet?

 

Got sent one at the weekend and seems OK, but getting a few curious stats from the router.

 

 

1. Some devices that previously were named properly now only show as a MAC address
   
2. Both TIVOs are showing as 2 wireless devices each and are functioning at a ridiculous speed, allegedly
   
3. Wireless devices are showing as getting very high speeds
   
4. All wired devices (Superhub-Gigabit Switch-Devices) are showing as getting 100MB
   

 

Is this normal?

 

Sorry, haven't had time to do lots of looking into it, but just wanted to check what others are seeing.

OK - got mine working - no problems

for reference - acted like the SSID password was wrong until it had fully configured - finally worked fine

 

once up connected to the hub

 

so your points above

 

1 - yes 2 devices are named as their MAC address - but not my laptop or the TIVO boxes - not sure what they all are yet - although I assume one is my desktop connected via Powerline -

2 - everything seems to appear twice - dunno why

3 - yes - my laptop is showing as high speed - but broadband tests haven't changed

 

speeds - TIVO and MAC named devices showing as 1000 Mbps - other wired ( smart tv) named properly and speed as 100 mbps

 

anyway - seems to work

Thanks. It all seems to work, and most people probably don't log into the router anyway; it's just niggling that it just doesn't look right!

I wasn't aware that had released that! I currently have the Superhub 3 and will be very intersted to se what performance people are getting as mine is running in modem mode connected to a Ubuiquity switch powering an aging Ruckus AC WiFi point due otthe SH3's poor performance.

Personally I can't tell as I don;t really push the hub anywhere near its limits

I spotted that last night on one of my machines - wondered why it had that name!

Hmmm... may be a coincidence, but my main PC can access files on my HTPC, but not vice versa. Main is showing in Explorer, but folders aren't accessible.

OK. Rebooted yesterday, which took an age, but everything was working properly (though the light was brighter than I'd set it to). Turned out that the reboot hadn't finished as it flashed twice a short while later and the light dimmed - and the two devices went back to not syncing as before.

Been playing around and have finally found where you can change names (though it doesn't seem to show the revised names on all pages!).

 

Also it seems that turning the hub's firewall off allows both devices to see each other properly... but has a detrimental affect on internet access!

i've had mine afew weeks, I was on a hub2, but when i had a phonecall asking if I wanted a 4 for free, I thought, "why not".

 

the only problem i had was some of the older laptops kept disconnecting from the wifi, I had forgotten to set 2 IDs, one for each frequency, apparently the auto detection things isn't great so that causes problems, but since I've done a 4g and 2g one, I have no issues.

Just in case anyone is having this problem, it seems as if disabling/re-enabling the LAN adapter will sort this out. In my case I needed it to sync files across and the software I use has the facility to run stuff before syncing so a simple 3 line script (last line adds a few seconds to make sure the LAN has registered) sorted it out.

 

Would still like to have a "proper" fix rather than a workaround, though.

I don't use the SH provided by Virgin anymore and instead use my own Untangle router + Some unifi APs. Only costs $50 a year for the licence and gives me far better control over my network. Not to mention I dont have to use VM's awful router interface.
