Samsng J5 Phone - Google Play services problem

Yesterday, out of the blue, started to get rapidly repeating 'Google Play services keeps stopping'. It offers, 'Close App' or 'App info'. Close app may lead to the message disappearing for a few seconds only. App info does indeed show. The usually Google solutions have not worked. Anyone hit and/or resolved this sort of issue?

I've made an account to offer a solution as I was having the same problem. I was using the Bootleggers custom ROM. On the Google Play services app info page under Apps and notifications, click the three dot menu item (top right) and uninstall updates then clear your storage for the app. Hopefully this helps.

By an amazing coincidence, shortly after I posted this, I just managed to fix it - 20 minutes after this post. I was looking at creating a Samsung account to do a full back then factory reset. As this is my sons phone, when it asked you to enter D.O.B., it refused to allow the account to be created because not over 13 - it's a daft situation. I would have used my D.O.B. in the end but thought I'd have another go. You're right about the uninstall updates though being key, but that hadn't worked when I tried before. I'd seen advice to turn off 'Find my device' and then do the uninstall, but still no joy. Then I realised perhaps the uninstall was not working because something was still using the service and noticed some kind of 'Screen lock' app was also ticked. So I unticked and the uninstall Google play services worked. All good now! I'm just wondering what brings this app back up to date now?

In the App info page for Play Services there should be a Play Store icon. I'm on Android 10 so I'm not sure if it'll be on earlier versions, if that's what you're on. You could also try charging it and turning on Wifi to see if it'll automatically pull down the update.
