“Will we have a sequel to Dune? If you watch the movie you see how it ends. I think you pretty much know the answer to that,” WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Chair and CEO Ann Sarnoff told Deadline yesterday in a sit-down chat regarding the conglom’s full support of Dune 2. That will be welcome news to Legendary (which put up most of the budget) and filmmaker Denis Villeuneve, who has set the table for a second film that focuses on Zendaya’s Chani character as much as Timothee Chalamet’s Paul Atreidis character was the central focus in the first film. There has been some question, but not if you’ve seen Dune on a big screen. The last franchise launch with that much creative ambition and sequel potential was The Fellowship of the Rings.

It is very good, and at about 2hrs, not over long. MrsC thought the fights over-played, probably aimed at the game market. The worm-guys(tm MiB) are good as are the other FX.. No Sting wandering around in his pants.

All in all - good job!

I saw it Saturday with my oldest boy, he's 15 and had no clue about the Dune universe.

I've read most of the 16 books, I'm that much of a geek! He said it was brilliant. His sister saw it with a friend as well and said it was one of the best sci fi movies she has seen.

They both can't wait for part two.

As someone who's read Dune a lot it was excellent and really captured the books themes without over complicating the plot.

I have a soft spot for the 1984 version but this is the definitive adaption.

Hopefully if the movies are successful they make Dune Messiah and Children of Dune.

Stunning film. Took a bit of a straight line though the story and missed some interesting parts in the book, but pacing could have been off and they did a fantastic job of not letting it get bogged down. Villeneuve should get a free run on Dune-part 2 and Messiah for the initial trilogy.

Off to see it tomorrow night, so far, everyone (inclusing those here) have said it's amazing and I'm very much looking forwards to it.

It really is. You wont be disappointed.

Saw it Tuesday night and was very impressed. Went to the late night showing (well, finished at just before midnight) and it was 2/3rds full and you could have heard a pin drop in the cinema it had everyone so engrossed.

And space bagpipes!

Only 2 years to the sequel!

Saw the film on Friday. Absolutely epic, beautifully shot, well cast and quite faithful to the book.

Two years to Part 2 is going to be a tough wait.
