hi im having problems with vegas 6 running a mpeg 4 xvid avi file, i get sound but no video stream. Ive used serveral codecs but no joy.

Sounds stupid but if you're using XP try turning down your Hardware Acceleration. This solves a similar problem in powerpoint.

 

Right click desktop -> Properties -> Settings (tab) -> Advanced -> Troubleshoot (tab)

Then move the slider till it says "Disable all DirectDraw and Direct3D accelerations, as well as all cursors and advanced drawing accelerations..."
